Anthony Joshua has declared that he will not hold back against Jake Paul, emphasizing that only a knockout victory will satisfy his desire for aggression. The former heavyweight champion is set to face YouTuber Paul in a mismatched bout in Miami on December 19, where Joshua stands to earn up to £70 million for what many view as a one-sided contest. Joshua, who disclosed that he will be coached by Oleksandr Usyk’s team for the fight, acknowledged that only a decisive victory will suffice, stating, “It’s not enough for me to just win; I must knock him out.”
“I am determined to inflict significant damage on him both physically and mentally. I aim to demonstrate my superiority in the ring and will not relent until the fight is over. My intention is to execute my game plan effectively and inflict serious harm on him during the match,” Joshua added.
Expressing admiration for his opponent’s professional experience, having fought 13 times since his debut in 2020, Joshua acknowledged Paul’s dedication to the sport. “Jake is a credible fighter. Consider this: when I entered the world of boxing, I walked into the gym with my cousin, expressing my belief that I could excel; three years later, I competed in the Olympics,” Joshua reflected.
“He has been honing his skills for five years. In my early years in boxing, I was considered an underdog with few supporters. It’s important not to underestimate anyone,” Joshua emphasized.
On the other hand, Paul asserted his willingness to make significant sacrifices to achieve what would be considered a monumental upset in boxing history. “No one could have predicted that we would be in this position when I first began boxing,” Paul remarked.
“Given the lack of belief in my victory, I invite skeptics to witness a surprising outcome. I possess the power and timing required. It’s the unexpected shots that make a difference, and as a crafty knockout artist, he needs to be cautious. I foresee a knockout in the fourth or fifth round. I am prepared to go to great lengths to secure victory in this fight,” Paul concluded.
