“Only The Poets Offer Unsigned Act Chance at Brixton Academy”

Only The Poets are offering an unsigned act the opportunity to perform alongside them at Brixton Academy. The band, hailing from Reading and comprising Tommy Longhurst, Clem Cherry, Andy ‘Roo’ Burge, and Marcus Yates, set ticket prices at just £1, showcasing their journey from humble beginnings to international success.

Having toured the United States and supported renowned artists like Yungblud, Lewis Capaldi, and Louis Tomlinson, Only The Poets remain dedicated to grassroots venues and providing a platform for emerging musicians. Breaking away from the norm of signed support acts, they are inviting aspiring artists to compete for a chance to play to 5,000 fans at Brixton Academy on February 2.

To determine the opening act, a selection of five finalists will perform at The Purple Turtle in Reading on January 31 during the launch of Only The Poets’ debut album, “And I’d Do It Again.” As part of their vision to support emerging talent, the band is accepting applications through their website based on fan recommendations on their Instagram page.

Reflecting on the significance of grassroots venues, the band emphasized the vital role these spaces play in nurturing new artists and fostering a vibrant music scene. Tommy expressed his excitement about playing at Brixton Academy, a venue they’ve long aspired to perform at, citing it as a pivotal moment in their musical journey.

With their upcoming album, “And I’d Do It All Again,” Only The Poets encapsulate their belief in the power of destiny and the transformative nature of their experiences. The band’s commitment to their roots and the organic evolution of their music shines through in their latest project.

While reminiscing about their musical influences and the importance of live performances, the band members underscored the value of grassroots venues in shaping their careers and instilling confidence in aspiring artists. Through their music and upcoming album release, Only The Poets aim to celebrate their journey and inspire others to pursue their passion for music.

As they gear up for the release of “And I’d Do It All Again” on January 30, Only The Poets continue to champion grassroots venues and uphold their belief in the interconnectedness of life experiences. The band’s unwavering dedication to their craft and support for emerging artists underscore their commitment to the music community.
