TV personality Coleen Nolan recently shared insights about her initial divorce, shedding light on why she prolonged the marriage longer than she felt was right. The renowned Loose Women panelist, aged 60, has been through two divorces, most notably with musician Ray Fensome in 2018. However, her most prominent relationship was with EastEnders actor Shane Richie.
Their marriage in 1990 ended in separation in 1997, followed by a divorce two years later due to allegations of infidelity. Discussing this with their oldest son Shane, 37, on her YouTube channel, Coleen confessed to staying in the marriage longer than necessary out of concern for their children and a fear of being labeled as divorced. She eventually sought therapy, realizing the negative impact it could have on her sons’ views on relationships.
Apart from Shane, Coleen also shares a son, singer Jack Roche, 33, with her first husband. After her first divorce, she remarried Ray Fensome in 2007, leading to another divorce 11 years later. Despite the challenges, Coleen emphasized the importance of putting effort into co-parenting for the sake of the children’s well-being.
Acknowledging the potential pitfalls of using children as weapons post-divorce, Coleen and Shane highlighted the importance of maintaining a healthy co-parenting relationship. Coleen’s upcoming one-woman show, This Is Me, delves into her life story, showcasing her journey with honesty and openness. Her candid approach to sharing her experiences has been well-received, leaving her with a sense of peace and honesty.
