Spanish singer Julio Iglesias is facing accusations of sexual abuse from two women. One of the alleged victims claimed she was coerced into engaging in sexual activities with the 82-year-old musician, citing instances of physical and verbal abuse, including slapping. The other accuser reported experiencing insults, humiliation, and unwanted touching.
Authorities in Spain are currently investigating the allegations. The Aduiencia Nacional, a prominent court in Spain, revealed that preliminary criminal investigation procedures have been initiated, maintaining the confidentiality of the process.
Using the pseudonym Rebeca for anonymity, one of the accusers described feeling dehumanized and mistreated, stating, “I felt like an object, like a slave.” The second woman, referred to as Laura for privacy reasons, alleged that Iglesias kissed her and touched her inappropriately without consent.
In an interview with eldiario.es, Laura detailed an incident where Iglesias touched her nipples on a beach, and a similar encounter at his villa’s pool in Punta Cana. While Iglesias has not publicly responded to the accusations, a woman identified as a manager of his properties dismissed the claims as baseless, emphasizing her respect and admiration for him.
Spanish prosecutors have confirmed the receipt of a formal complaint against Iglesias and assured that an investigation is ongoing. The Aduiencia Nacional reiterated the confidential nature of the process and emphasized the protection of the alleged victims.
Julio Iglesias gained fame in the UK with his hit track “Begin the Beguine,” which topped the charts in 1981. He has achieved global success, selling over 300 million records.
Despite efforts to reach out for comment, Iglesias remains silent on the matter. Media outlets continue to pursue responses from his representatives.
