“WWII Bomb Surrendered in Merseyside, Road Closed for Assessment”

An alleged “unexploded bomb” has been reported to have been surrendered to authorities in Merseyside. Merseyside Police revealed that a suspected WWII bomb was brought to Wallasey Police Station by a member of the public around 2.40 pm today. Manor Road has been shut down as a safety measure while the object is being assessed.

While the police station remains operational, the nearby Monkey House Children’s play center seems to be closed. A local resident expressed concern, stating, “I live right next to the police station and if anything happens my house would be the first to go up. I hope they know what they’re doing.” Another resident outside the restricted area mentioned that individuals on Wimbledon Street were advised by police to stay indoors.

The situation has caused unease among residents, with one remarking, “It’s a bit unsettling to be honest. I’m surprised no one has been evacuated if there’s an unexploded bomb right next door.” Drawing attention to a recent incident in Wirral involving another unexploded bomb, a resident commented on the frequency of such discoveries, saying, “This seems like it’s happening all the time now. Only last week there was a bomb found on Argyle Street in Birkenhead. It just makes you wonder how many are actually out there.” The proximity to a school raised additional concerns for the resident.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson confirmed the road closures in Wallasey due to the potential unexploded ordnance report. They stated, “Manor Road has been closed as a precaution while the device is further examined. At this stage the police station has not been closed and enquiries remain ongoing.”
