“Deceived Pet Owners: Man Faces Prison for Deaths of 37 Dogs”

A man who deceived individuals into entrusting him with the care of their pets is on the verge of imprisonment following the discovery of 37 deceased dogs on a premises. Oaveed Rahman, aged 26, pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to an animal at Basildon Crown Court. The charge pertains to mistreatment of 21 dogs and a cat.

In addition to the animal cruelty charge, Rahman, residing in Crays Hill, also confessed to 11 counts of fraud through false representation. An inquiry was initiated after law enforcement, in collaboration with the RSPCA and Basildon Council personnel, uncovered the deceased dogs at a location in Crays Hill, Billericay, last May.

Inspector Steve Parry, head of Basildon Neighbourhood Policing Team, expressed understanding for the community’s distress over the investigation, emphasizing the gravity of Rahman’s actions in mistreating the dogs and deceiving community members for financial gain.

Rahman’s sentencing is scheduled for February 20, where further details will be revealed about the case. Inspector Parry commended the public for their assistance in gathering crucial information, which played a pivotal role in building the case leading to Rahman’s admission of guilt and potential imprisonment.
