Anthony Joshua is fully committed to his upcoming bout against Jake Paul, having made the trip to Miami early to acclimate to the time difference.
The former two-time unified heavyweight champion has been out of action since suffering a devastating knockout loss to Daniel Dubois in September 2024 at Wembley Stadium. Following a period of recovery from injury and elbow surgery, Joshua is now back in rigorous training to prepare for his ring return.
The announcement of Joshua facing Paul took many by surprise, with the showdown set to take place on December 19 in Miami, Florida. The bout will consist of eight three-minute rounds, with both fighters using 10oz gloves.
While Joshua is heavily favored to win against the former YouTuber turned boxer, he is approaching the match with utmost seriousness. Promoter Eddie Hearn has confirmed Joshua’s dedication, mentioning that Joshua is already in Miami, looking sharp and putting in the work as if he were competing for a world title.
The highly anticipated heavyweight clash between Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul is scheduled for December 19 in Miami and will be streamed live on Netflix. Fans can access the fight for free with Sky’s £15 Essential TV bundle, the lowest price offered for Sky TV.
Hearn disclosed that Joshua must not exceed 245lb for the fight with Paul, dispelling concerns about weight issues despite initial negotiations suggesting otherwise. The British boxer’s weight is reportedly on track for the agreed limit, with Hearn clarifying previous miscommunication regarding Joshua’s weight during negotiations.
The fight is expected to commence around 11 pm local time in Miami, translating to 4 am in the UK, just six days before Christmas. Fight times may adjust depending on the undercard duration, with the event airing live on Netflix.
