If you own a Freeview television, now is a great opportunity to ensure it is fully updated and retuned. Recent reports confirmed the introduction of two new channels on the free-to-view platform, offering movies and children’s programming.
One of the new channels, wedotv Movies UK, has transitioned from an exclusively online service to a full over-the-air channel. This change allows all households to access the channel, regardless of having an internet-connected TV. The channel features a lineup of popular films, including One-Eyed Jacks, Willow Creek, and The Way.
Additionally, there is a new channel tailored for younger viewers called Cartoon Classics, available on channel 214. This channel showcases classic animated shows such as The Smurfs, Count Duckula, Sonic X, and Leo & Tig.
To enjoy these new channels, it is recommended to update your TV settings. Freeview advises users to retune their devices as broadcasters are making changes on October 22, 2025, to ensure channels and TV guides remain up to date.
In addition to the new channels, there is a name change for one service. Gems TV on channel 45 is now rebranded as Gemporia.
Freeview has provided guidelines on how to retune devices:
– Press the menu button on your TV remote control
– Select ‘set-up’, ‘installation’, ‘update,’ or a similar option. If prompted for a password, the default codes are ‘1234’ or ‘0000’
– Choose ‘first-time installation’ or a similar option
– Confirm the deletion of existing channels when prompted and allow the retune process to start automatically. Save any new channels found during the process.
Freeview emphasizes that channel lineups are continuously evolving to offer viewers diverse content options.
