A man who had been concealed under a concrete slab with a fatal gunshot wound for a decade has been positively identified after an extensive investigation.
The remains were confirmed to be those of Chester Williams, discovered on August 26, 2021, in Las Vegas when a homeowner was breaking up a concrete slab.
Authorities stated that the victim had succumbed to a gunshot wound to the head and had likely been buried for a minimum of 10 years.
On July 29 of this year, authorities received a tip from a member of the public who left a voicemail suggesting they might have information about the victim’s identity.
The caller mentioned that Williams had resided with her parents before disappearing between 1998 and 1999. She recalled that her parents lived on the same street where Williams was found and remembered them pouring a concrete slab at the spot of his disappearance.
Mohave County Sheriff’s officials reported that when the caller inquired about Williams, her parents claimed he had left on his own, leaving all his belongings behind, which struck her as peculiar.
The woman’s parents, identified as Alvin and Bea Hamilton, passed away in 2006 and 2018, respectively.
Recently, a DNA sample was taken and matched, confirming the victim’s identity as Chester Williams.
In a separate incident, a man was arrested for driving a deceased individual to a hospital before informing staff and fleeing the scene.
Christopher Caron, 42, allegedly drove a black Honda Civic to the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, Massachusetts, with the body in the backseat last weekend.
After parking the car at the emergency room entrance, Caron informed hospital staff about the body’s presence before leaving. Subsequently, a hospital employee discovered the body wrapped in blankets and secured with duct tape.
The victim, identified as 27-year-old Declan Perry from Portland, was the owner of the car. The cause of his death has not been disclosed by the authorities.
Neighbors revealed that they had helped Caron load a large, heavy blanket into the Honda Civic on the same day. Law enforcement officers conducted a search at Caron’s residence and seized various pieces of evidence.
