Meanwhile, Charles Leclerc brought joy to the Ferrari team by securing pole position, their first of the season. Despite Hamilton’s struggles, Leclerc’s exceptional qualifying lap outshone competitors like McLaren’s Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.
Reflecting on his unexpected success, Leclerc jokingly admitted to being surprised by his pole position achievement, considering the challenging conditions during the qualifying rounds. McLaren’s Piastri also had a strong performance, securing a front-row spot alongside Leclerc.
Looking ahead to the race, Piastri holds a 16-point lead over Norris in the championship standings, with both drivers aiming to capitalize on their grid positions. The Hungarian Grand Prix marks the last race before the summer break, with the Formula 1 season set to resume in August at the Dutch Grand Prix.
In other notable performances, George Russell and Norris will share the second row, while Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso leads teammate Lance Stroll from the third row. Hamilton’s struggles contrast with the improved performance of the Aston Martin team, showing significant progress from their previous race at Spa-Francorchamps.
