Beauty Bay, an online cosmetics retailer, is facing potential collapse as it has initiated the process to appoint administrators. This step indicates the company’s intention to enter administration and triggers a temporary legal protection period against creditor actions for ten days.
According to reports from Sky News, Beauty Bay filed the notice earlier this week and has temporarily shut down its website with a message stating, “We’ll Be Back Soon.” The company, founded in 1999 by Arron and David Gabbie in Manchester, offers products from over 200 brands, including Ariana Grande, Clinique, and MAC, alongside its own product line.
Previously, Beauty Bay had been exploring funding options, including a possible sale of the business. Interpath, an advisory firm, was assisting the company in conducting a business review. Beauty Bay, which employs 65 individuals, has not yet provided any official comments on the situation.
In a related development, fashion retailer Quiz has recently gone into administration, resulting in the loss of 109 jobs. The redundancies are affecting staff at the company’s head office in Glasgow and warehouse in Lanarkshire. Quiz’s website has been taken offline, and customers with pending online orders are being informed of cancellations.
Quiz is currently not processing refunds but advises customers to seek reimbursement through their bank or credit card providers. Customers who made purchases exceeding £100 with a credit card may be eligible for a refund under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act. For debit card transactions or credit card purchases under £100, customers can explore Chargeback within 120 days of purchase.
Customers can still exchange unwanted items at Quiz stores for products of equal value, with the retailer planning stock clearance sales across its branches. However, gift cards are no longer being accepted. Quiz operates 40 stores across the UK and has concessions in New Look and Matalan stores, with the concessions at these locations remaining unaffected by the administration process.
