Roy Keane Criticizes Man United’s Carrick Appointment

Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane has expressed strong criticism regarding the team and the appointment of Michael Carrick as interim manager. Keane also took aim at Jonny Evans while expressing his discontent with the current state of his former club.

The confirmation of Carrick’s appointment until the end of the season was announced recently, as the club begins its search for a permanent successor for the upcoming summer. Carrick’s first challenge came in the form of facing Manchester City at Old Trafford, a tough start to his managerial stint.

In a candid discussion on Sky Sports, Keane raised doubts about Carrick and Evans’ qualifications. Keane pointed out Carrick’s previous stint at Middlesbrough, where he failed to achieve promotion, questioning whether he is the right fit for the managerial role. Keane also expressed concerns about the overall coaching staff accompanying Carrick and the club’s decision-making process.

Keane further scrutinized the decision to bring Evans back to the coaching staff, emphasizing his lack of coaching experience and questioning the club’s recruitment strategy. Keane highlighted the rapid turnover of staff at the club and criticized the decision to reappoint Evans to a significant coaching role shortly after his departure as loans manager.

Regarding the chaotic background decisions at the club, Keane expressed reluctance to work under superiors dictating staffing choices and player transfers. Despite acknowledging the potential for success under Carrick’s leadership, Keane remained skeptical about the club’s direction and the lack of proven track records among the coaching staff.

The conversation between Keane and pundit Daniel Sturridge delved into Carrick’s potential success in implementing an attacking style of play. While acknowledging the possibilities, Keane reiterated his apprehensions about the managerial appointments and the lack of experience within the coaching staff.

In a separate development, Sky has announced a price reduction for its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle, offering enhanced coverage of over 1,400 live matches across various leagues, including the Premier League and EFL. Sky will broadcast a minimum of 215 live Premier League games in the upcoming season, a significant increase from previous seasons.
