Recently, the annual Uswitch awards were presented at a glamorous event in Canary Wharf, London, unveiling some unexpected victors. These accolades are determined by a panel of esteemed judges, which includes Mirror Online’s Technology Editor, in addition to input from the general public. Notably, the 2026 Uswitch rankings showcased smaller, value-focused mobile networks as the standout performers in the category of best mobile provider.
Among the standout performers were VOXI, Tesco Mobile, Lebara, and giffgaff, each excelling in categories such as Mobile Network of the Year, Best Mobile Network for Customer Service, and Best Mobile Network for Roaming.
Surprisingly, EE emerged as the top choice for best broadband provider, surpassing its reputation in mobile services by securing the title of National Broadband Provider of the Year.
Additionally, other broadband champions included YouFibre, Plusnet, Vodafone, and Virgin Media.
Ernest Doku, a telecommunications expert at Uswitch, highlighted the evolving consumer priorities, stating, “In 2026, value for money is key in the ‘household budget,’ emphasizing the importance of a rewarding investment choice.”
Doku further emphasized, “The recognition of smaller mobile providers in this year’s awards reflects consumer preference for networks offering exceptional value. In the broadband arena, reliability is paramount, especially for remote work scenarios where a stable connection is essential.”
